CAMX 2015: Learn About High-Pressure RTM and Much More at CAMX

HP-RTM on the Rise

Already used in series production of structural carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts in BMW’s i3 and i8 models, high-pressure resin transfer molding (HP-RTM) is viewed by some as new technology. To others, it is merely modernization of early RTM processes, like that used to build Dodge Viper parts (25 years ago!). What differentiates HP-RTM from RTM? “The cycle time is much faster than standard RTM,” points out Matthias Mayr, head of project management at Engel Austria’s Center for Lightweight Composite Technologies. And that difference is wrapped up in the “HP.” Conventional RTM, by comparison, is “LP.” CW explore the materials, equipment and technologies driving HP-RTM today. Award Submissions Now Being Accepted

The awards presented at CAMX celebrate innovators and innovations that are shaping markets, inspiring solutions, and shifting industry expectations. Companies that win these awards join an elite group of leaders and visionaries within the composites and advanced materials community. (View the 2014 CAMX Award winners and ACE winners.)

  • CAMX AWARD
The CAMX Award honors developments in two prestigious categories. The Unsurpassed Innovation Award recognizes a product or process that will significantly impact composites and advanced materials in the marketplace. The Combined Strength Award celebrates visionary concepts and products that show strength through collaboration, while bridging low-cost materials/high-volume applications with high performance applications/low-volume materials. Submit an entry.
    Sponsored by Ashland. [space_box id=”” height=”5″]
  • AWARDS FOR COMPOSITES EXCELLENCE (ACE)
The Awards for Composites Excellence (ACE), a prestigious composites industry competition, recognizes outstanding achievement and innovation in technology, manufacturing and product development. Hosted by ACMA, the ACE program includes six awards in the areas of design, manufacturing and market growth. Submit an entry.
    Sponsored by Composites One. [space_box id=”” height=”10″]

Impressive Register of Program Abstracts

CAMX received hundreds of submissions for both Technical Papers and Education Sessions as part of the Conference Program for CAMX 2015. Because of the support of those willing to share their expertise, CAMX delivers the most extensive education anywhere for the composites and advanced materials community. Committees have begun reviewing all submissions in consideration for the Conference Program. Thank you to all those who submitted and for making the 2015 CAMX Conference Program the place for an industry education experience not available elsewhere! For more information on the Conference Program, contact conference@thecamx.org. [space_box id=”” height=”10″]

Registration & Housing Opening Soon

Be on the lookout for an email within the next month on registration and housing opening for CAMX. In the meantime, mark your calendar and plan to attend!

Also note that the CAMX Housing Bureau, Conference Direct, is the ONLY authorized hotel reservations contact. Please be aware that companies other than the official CAMX housing provider may contact you indicating that they are affiliated with CAMX, ACMA or SAMPE, and claim to offer hotels at “reduced rates.” These companies are not affiliated in any way with CAMX, and it’s strongly recommended that you DO NOT use their services. At past events, exhibitors and attendees have used these companies and lost deposits or did not receive the hotel rooms they reserved. [space_box id=”” height=”10″]

The Exhibit Hall is 75% Sold

The CAMX 2015 Show Floor is sure to be even more impressive this year! Search more than 400 companies that have already committed to exhibiting at CAMX. Reserve your space today. [space_box id=”” height=”10″]

Thank You to all CAMX Volunteers

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we want to say “Thank You!” to all the CAMX volunteers. CAMX is a true industry event – developed by the industry, for the industry – that connects and advances all aspects of the composites and advanced materials community. CAMX wouldn’t be possible without the speakers, committee members, peer reviewers, and award judges who dedicate their time and energy. Thanks for all you do to make CAMX possible! If you’re interested in becoming a CAMX volunteer, contact us here. [space_box id=”” height=”10″]

Composites in Action

While watching last weekend’s 2015 Masters winner Jordan Spieth break records, CAMX was reminded of a past ACE Winner from the golf industry – The Calloway RAZR Hawk driver. This was the first Callaway Golf driver featuring an aft body created by using a carbon-fiber reinforced molding compound, a compression molding process, and the “forged composites” technology developed by Lamborghini. Find more inspiring examples of partnerships and innovations like this at CAMX, or share your product by entering into the CAMX or ACE award competitions. [space_box id=”” height=”10″]
